This is the wave Devin Bull snapped the 5' 10" on.  Bummer.  Didn't ride the wave as well as could have.  End result - broken board.  Should have got down, grabbed rail and tried to make the next section.  Instead a moment of indecision resulted in me catching the outside rail, and board getting whacked by the ip and buckling right in the center.  Devin Bull unhappy.

Surfing has been really good lately.  Here's Devin Bull with a big grin about to set up the next section on a nice one.  Devin snapped his two favorite boards on this swell.  Damn it!  A new 5' 10" and a 5' 8".  This picture is riding a 6' 2" that is just so-so of a board.  Surfed for three and a half hours this day without even seeing another surfer.  Good to know where to go.

Wind is colder than the water.  No one out (again! ha ha).  Using my 1mm steamer.  It's a piece of garbage but it keeps the wind chill down.  Riding a new board 5' 10", goes like a beauty.

Devin Bull got surf at the end of July.  Got surf in the last week of August and nothing ever since.  It has been super flat these past two months.  Sure, there are days of knee high junk, maybe even some waist high surf.  But I got better things to do than grovel in the muck.  When the surf comes it is good.  But just a tad incosistent.

Devin Bull muses over the current flat spell.  Lately we've gone from one of the best day's surf ever to acceptable surf 6 days later that lasted for a couple of days to absolute flatness for 17 days.  And the flat spell continues.  Slight chance for a little bump tomorrow but nothing to get excited about.  Tides will be wrong for the some of the best breaks.  A prolonged flat spell.  Devin Bull

Here's another snap of the epic day.  Three and a half hours of perfectly timed fun.  The next day was flat.  Got to get it when you can.

Man, it's been flat for days.  But a couple of weeks ago Devin Bull scored some storm perfection.  The surf was so good that day it is still fueling the stoke.  Perfect right hand point break with only 2 guys out and even they went in and left Devin Bull to surf all by himself.  Check it out.  Three turns and  barrel on this wave.  Got shacked and snuck out the doggy door.  Sick fun.

Here is Devin Bull taking the plunge on a recent stormy day.  Mate sitting on the shoulder thinking WTF!  Good surf this day. Long 150m+ rides.  Well overhead takeoffs.  Memorable day of surf.  Bit of a current in the water made for a ten minuted paddle back out.

Devin Bull paddled out at another right hand break earlier that was taking the swell more directly -- it was a bit of a mess (slightly onshore) and gigantic and he never took off on a wave.   Tried to take a smaller one and got a set on the head and came in.  So much for that.  Scored the right on a follow up storm several days later and it was flawless.  More on that later.

Devin Bull:  Got up early and walked on the beach at 6am.  Checked the swell.  Too small to hit any of the known waves.  Too crap in front of my pad.  Decision:  walk 2km for exercise and go home and get busy.  The swell is forecast to come, it's just not here yet (what's new!).  Summer sucks.
